A Little About Ellie.........

A Little About Ellie's Art World.........

Ellie Murtha is a graduate of Traphagen School of Design and has attended the Arts Student League, New Jersey Center for Visual Arts, and Parsons in which she studied Color Theory & Design under Pat Lambert . She has worked under artists such as Arthur Maynard , Allen Schaffer,Philippe Faraut and Alfredo Cardenas. Her style, unique to herself, is reflected throughout her art which includes: oil/acrylic paintings, pastels and sculptures as well as her jewelry. Ellie has shown her work in various galleries, corporations and her art is considered a prized possession in many private homes.

Ellie was born and raised in New Jersey.  She lost her father at the age of 11.  Her mother owned and operated a small deli in a small town named Little Ferry, NJ.  Growing up she always had a keen interest in the arts whether it was molding clay mud into small animals or fascinated with trying to perfect drawing the Walt Disney’s seven dwarf’s characters.  During her motherhood years, given birth to 3 daughters, she always found time to engage in her passion of painting and drawing.

It wasn’t until “life after children” and her second marriage (and gaining a loving son) that she was able to fully absorb her efforts into not only painting and drawing, but sculpturing as well.  During that time Ellie studied and developed a style that she is very proud of today.  Her versatility defines her uniqueness, not only in style, but in design as well.

Ellie and her husband now reside down at the Jersey shore.  She is surrounded by her 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  She spends most of her time in her home studio where her passion lies, creating beautiful pieces of art.
